HWH receives funding from Hawaii DOH to help improve the quality of reefs and water of Hanalei Bay.

The Hanalei Watershed Hui has received funding from the Hawaii Department of Health to help pay for the replacement of the 75 cesspools in Hanalei. Cesspools and most septic systems,  contribute pollutants that impact the rivers, reefs and bay of Hanalei. The units we are replacing them with treat the wastewater and reduce the impacts of bacterial, pharmaceutical and nutrient pollutants. If you live between the Hanalei and Waioli Rivers and would like more information, please contact the Hui office at 826-1985.
